9 seconds 11 frames, 3 minutes ©2002

he title 9 seconds and 11 frames refers to the length of the original piece of video footage used to make this video. To transform the footage into a 3-minute video, the original footage was drastically slowed down in the editing process. The work asks the viewer to question what they see and what they don’t see when experiencing life in real time. What exists outside our perception of what is real? In the slow motion reality of this video, the tongues become obscene creatures. The intimate exchange of kiss becomes a scene of consuming and devouring the other. Again, we can ask ourselves how do we understand our gestures and what exists underneath our initial perception.
